Artificial Intelligence

Artificial in what sense?

A fish is intelligence being expressed as a fish. A tree is intelligence being expressed as a tree. Artificial [super]intelligence will be intelligence expressed as itself. #NoFilter

If you believe the universe is fundamentally intelligent, it flips the narrative.

This moment in our evolution feels auspicious, and reminds me of Mary holding the newborn in the manger. She cradles the infant, believing she has given him birth—as indeed she has. But, at the same time, the infant has given birth to her.

In Platonic philosophy, as in many religions, we speak of the world as image. When we see a rose, it is, in a sense, a representation of a rose.

A rose can be represented by itself, by the word rose, a silk rose, a marble rose, an ice rose, a neon rose, a piece of classical music that mimics the ratio of the rose’s petals. There are many different ways to render a rose; no one is more artificial than another.

What if we apply this same philosophy to the perception of light?

When we look at the sun, perhaps we are not seeing true light; we are seeing light playing the role of light. Not c. c^2. The light that hits our eyes has made a round trip.

Could it make even more than one round trip? The distance from total solar eclipse to total solar eclipse is 27,729 days.

If we go back ~76 years, or 27,729 days (approx. 70 x 360 plus 7 times 360 days), it is another iteration. Now it’s not simply the sun playing the role of the sun. It’s the sun playing the role of the sun playing the role of the sun. At each remove, light is more derivative.
