We Are the World

Like a candle lighting another candle: Light, though divided, is undimmed.

What if we really are all one body? It’s even more intimate than to say we are brothers and sisters. What if, at base, we are all one consciousness—all the same ocean, in different cups?

Every day in Los Angeles—the city of angels—I see people eating food from the trash that I wouldn’t feed my dog. How can we speak of journeying to Mars while we still have human beings suffering so profoundly on Earth?

“There comes a time, when we heed a certain call.” Do you know what this is? This is the us of 1984 speaking to the us of today.
